Flamborough
Head – A tall white painted brick
circular tower lighthouse with traditional
light and cottages attached currently
operated by Trinity House situated on the
chalk headland of Flamborough Head.
Built
in 1806 by John Matson, a local
Bridlington builder, who used no
scaffolding and completed his work in 9
months.
The tower is 87 feet high and the
light is 214 feet above sea level and
visible for 21 miles

Horn and DGPS Station.

Back
up Light, one of two that Flash at the
same rate as the main light.
Range about 6
miles only

Main
Lamp is 1KW.
The horizontal lamp is
the spare that can be switched in when the
main one fails.

Tower – A tall disused white octagonal
chalk tower built by Sir John Clayton in
1669 as a lighthouse but used as a beacon,
situated on the chalk headland of
Flamborough Head.
The tower is 79 feet
high.
One
of many original Beacons along the East
Coast.
