Built
in 1846. Inactive. 11 m (35 ft) octagonal
cylindrical cast iron tower with lantern,
mounted on a 1-story octagonal stone
base.
The
Base is unpainted, tower painted white,
lantern black.
In
this unusual design, a slender column
supports the lantern and stands on a broad
base.
The
lighthouse was replaced by a short
concrete tower and then (1996) by an
aluminum tower; the active
light is maintained by Trinity House.
Located
on the west quay in Maryport; accessible
by walking the quay.
