This Lighthouse sits on the Sagres peninsula, a small Fort was built to defend this deserted rock from an enemy arriving from the mainland.  

The Lighthouse was built in 1894, it is 13 metres high and 53 metres above the sea. 

It has an unimpressive Fixed Red light with a Range of 11 miles.

It was automated in 1982 and is monitored by São Vincente.
