the side; lights mounted on a mast atop
the tower.

Old Outer Quay
About
1730. Inactive. Approx. 14 m (46 ft) stone
tower, unpainted, with a large window near
the top.
This
structure, often called the "Old
Lighthouse," was used primarily as a
watchtower.
The
tower was undoubtedly a daybeacon, but it
isn't clear if it was ever lit as a
lighthouse.
Located
on the 17th century Old Quay, which now
encloses the Inner Harbour of Whitehaven.
Accessible by walking the quay.
