Admiralty A4972

A small white painted stone round tower with a traditional red lantern on top.

I estimate it to be 20ft high.

It is situated at Woodside Ferry pier at Birkenhead where the Liverpool – Birkenhead ferry crosses the Mersey, and is operated by the local port authority.

Built in the 1984 it stands in the same position on the pier, as did its predecessor, which dated from the 1840s.
